God’s Truth-Tellers Collection

$30.00 (USD)

To aid learners and seekers to become familiar with eight Hebrew Scriptures prophets, gaining understanding of the persons called by God, their circumstances and messages, and possible their relationships to today’s moral and ethical questions.

Our assumption is that relatively few disciples have a comprehensive understanding of the Hebrew prophets. We may know the name and some facets of a famous story about the prophet, such as Daniel and the Lion’s Den. Many also think of the descriptive word – prophet – and understand it as someone who tells the future. What is forgotten is that they were called to speak on behalf of God, to tell a truth to their time and place.

For each of the eight prophets, there is a “left hand” and right hand” page. The left hand page contains four verses about the prophet’s background and “assignment” from God. The verses describe what he or she says or does to fulfill the mission. The final verse describes the outcomes of what happens when the hearers (often leaders of Judah or Israel) either do or do not heed God’s word. The right hand page contains the music to sing these verses. An alternate tune is JACOB’S LADDER.

We feature the following eight prophets and their stories:

  • Amos
  • Daniel
  • Deborah
  • Elijah
  • Esther
  • Isaiah
  • Jeremiah
  • Ruth
